Anyone who regularly follows my news page will be well aware that over the past 2 or 3 months there has been a quite a selection of new products launched by Entreq including Ground Boxes, Ground Cables, Grounding Kits as well as new speaker cables and interconnects!
There have also been some major changes to the range of power cables also, the only cable from the previous range of power cables that still exist are the top of the range Olympus and what was the entry level cable – the Primer Pro.
In keeping with the introduction of the new entry level grounding kits, Entreq have made the decision to produce a new entry level power cable, simply called Primer. This sits below the Primer Pro model in the range and sells for £350, so almost half the price of admission of the Pro version. It doesn’t come with a Primer Box and is a standalone power cable as it were.
As always with Entreq the cable is 1.65m long and the mains plug and IEC connector are from Furutech, the mains plug on this cable is a FI-1363-UK Copper plug, but a right angled one so if plugged into a wall socket the cable exits downwards from the plug which can be sometimes easier to manage compared to ones which come straight out (like the Primer Pro)
Connected to a Gold Note DS-10 DAC the addition of the Primer over the stock power cable brought a really nice uplift in sound quality, the music had a greater sense of space and air around it and in typical Entreq fashion the presentation was natural and very organic.
Moving back to the stock cable simply made the presentation sound a bit blander all round, the addition of the Primer Power Cable definitely made a really positive improvement to what I was hearing.
With a price of £350 it certainly opens up an Entreq power cable to a new potential group of customers who would not be comfortable spending £600 on a power cable. This puts the Primer as our entry level power cable from our range of Entreq, Shunyata and Tellurium Q power cables.
