Entreq Interconnect Cables

Entreq Interconnects

The first thing I need to stress here is what Entreq cables focus on, or more importantly what they don’t focus on. If you are looking for major excitement with focus on detail retrieval and sonic fireworks then Entreq possibly isn’t for you. But if you put value on your systems ability to naturally recreate a musical presentation with accuracy, focus and poise with superb texture and coherency, you’ll find Entreq to be a truly addictive experience.

In the Autumn of 2021 Entreq had a major overhaul of their cable ranges and as a result their Infinity line of cables – Discover, Konstantin, Challenger, Apollo and Atlantis were all been discontinued.

The current line up starts with a new entry level cable called Hexa, this was released in September 2023, slotting in below Primer Pro, it is a completely new design and is the first Entreq cable which does not require a ground box to work and they offer excellent value for money.

From there the next cable range is Primer Pro, which was the previous entry level cable, Primer Pro remains unchanged, it has been a very popular range of cables.

The next 3 cables are all new additions to the line up – Primer Infinity replaced Discover Infinity, Argo replaces Konstantin Infinity, Triton replaces both Challenger and Apollo. The Olympus remains Entreq’s flagship range of cables.

In each range of cables there is an RCA and XLR analogue interconnect, along with digital interconnects with Ethernet, USB (A to B), plus RCA Coaxial, AES/EBU and BNC options.

Primer Pro, Primer Infinity, Argo and Triton all come with hard wired ground cables and a ground box included in the price. Primer Pro and Primer Infinity come with a Primer Box, Argo comes with a Silver Minimus Infinity and Triton comes with an Olympus Ten Tungsten. With each of these cables everything required to get up and running comes included in the price.

The Olympus range comes with hard wired ground cables, but without a ground box, allowing the selection of the most suitable box for the system in question.

As you move up the ranges the level of performance increases, there is a greater level of noise removal which unlocks more detail, there is greater subtlety and nuance to the music as the noise floor drops away. At each level in the range the performance is superb, what is most appropriate comes down to your system and your budget.

If you have a good system Argo and Triton can deliver a revelatory level of performance, they never fail to put huge smiles on faces. They have the ability to really extract all of the potential from your components and in many cases customers discover that their previous cables (Nordost, Audioquest, Chord and suchlike) cost a lot more money and were actually holding back the performance system. For me Entreq’s raison d’etre is all about engagement and creating an emotional connection to the music.

Entreq Analogue Interconnect Cables (RCA & XLR)

There are 6 analogue interconnects available in the range, Hexa, Primer Pro, Primer Infinity, Argo, Triton and Olympus, each cable is available with either RCA or XLR termination.

Entreq Ethernet Cables & USB Cables

In this modern world of streaming music the digital cable is more important than ever, with music streaming services now being used as a serious source the chain from the home router through to your streaming device is critical. Networks are intrinsically noisy places and this can dramatically hold back system performance.

Ethernet Cables

As with the analogue cables there are 6 Entreq Ethernet cables starting with the entry level Hexa which is £260 for a 1.1m cable, the other cables follow the same hierarchy moving up through the range – Primer Pro, Primer Infinity, Argo, Triton and Olympus

If you stream music (Tidal/Qobuz/Spotify) or use Roon replacing a standard ethernet cable with an appropriate ethernet cable based around your system and budget can be a sizeable upgrade. Networks are very noisy environments and if you look after the signal you can find your streamed music improves quote dramatically.

With the exception of the entry level Hexa and flagship Olympus all of the Ethernet cables come with a ground box included. Over the past year or sold the Ethernet Cables have become increasingly popular.

USB Cables

There are 5 USB cables in the range (there is no Hexa USB), the first cable is the Primer Pro which is £440 (1.1m including a hard wired ground cable and Primer Ground Box) and moving up from there the cables follow the same hierarchy as you progress up, Primer Infinity, Argo, Triton and Olympus at the top.

The Primer Infinity comes with a Primer Infinity Ground Box, Argo comes with a Silver Minimus Infinity and Triton comes with an Olympus Ten Tungsten. As with the other cable types Olympus does not come with a ground box included.

All USB cables are terminated USB A to USB B so they ideal to connect from a Taiko, Melco, Innous, Aurender or computer to a USB DAC.

As with Ethernet Cables please not overlook the importance of a good USB cable in a system.
