T+A PSD 3100 HV Network DAC/Pre-amp
I’m delighted to announce that T+A’s newest HV series component, the PSD 3100 HV has arrived at Audio Therapy.
To say the PSD is a comprehensive product is a huge understatement, it has an amazing feature set and performance to match it, weighing in at 26kg it is incredibly well built and as with all HV components the fit, finish and attention to detail is quite exceptional.
The PSD is primarily a network DAC and an analogue preamplifier, give it a network connection, download the T+A G3 Navigator App and you are good to go. The Navigator App supports streaming services from Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, Deezer, HighResAudio and Amazon Music. Internet Radio and Podcasts are also available.
The PSD is also Roon Ready (with certification completed just last week) and you can also stream via Tidal Connect and Spotify Connect.
The streaming board is brand new and is called Gen3, the first in a new generation and is actually better specified than the flagship SDV model.
There is a USB B input for connecting a Melco, Innous or suchlike, plus a USB A input to play files stored on a USB stick on passport hard drive. The USB B input will support up to DSD 512 and PCM 32 bit 768kHz
Conventional digital inputs are ample with 2 x optical, 1 x AES, 1 x RCA, 1 x BNC
There is an IPA link which is a proprietary T+A connection to interface with the PDT 3100 HV SACD/CD Transport (this link will transfer both PCM and DSD)
Ethernet is wired or wireless and there is also an FM aerial connection, there are a pair of comms sockets to talk allow the PSD to talk to other HV components.
There are also 2 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output (with Arc), very useful if your system is in the same room as your TV.
There is 1 pair of RCA analogue inputs (useful for a phono stage potentially) and in terms of outputs there is 1 pair of RCA and 1 pair of XLR outputs.
On the front panel there is a USB-A input and a headphone output.
In terms of powering the PSD it requires 2 power cables, the analogue and digital power supplied are completed isolated from one another, each contained inside a sealed compartment. T+A have really left no stone unturned in maximising the performance of this product.
Sonically straight out of the box the PSD instantly impressed with its performance, partnered with a PA 3100 HV and a pair of Fyne Audio F1-8S the PSD has incredible realism and transparency about the way it presents the music, bass response is incredibly strong and solid, play some Hedegaard or Jon Hopkins and it can really boogie, this is a system you can push hard, but it never hardens up or loses control, switch to something more simple and reflective like Ryuichi Sakamoto or Max Richter and the PSD shows it can do delicacy and intimacy as well.
HV is a different sonic flavour to Vitus, they sit at similar price points, but are they are distinctly different enough so they will happily coexist side by side in the demonstration room, I’m looking forward to showing them off vs one another.
The PSD 3100 HV is priced at £14,900 and the A3000 HV power amplifier is £16500, I’ve a new section of my website currently under construction which will feature recommended systems and I’ve a feeling we will have a system post on the way. My A3000 HV is currently on back order and should be due very soon.
