We now have a pair of Avalon PM1 loudspeakers on permanent demonstration. Delivered today in a gorgeous birds eye maple veneer the quality of the veneer really is second to none, one of the finest veneers I’ve ever seen – I deliberated for too long over which finish to get them in, but I couldn’t be happier with my choice, at least makes the choice of finish for the PM2 a bit easier!
As with all Avalon loudspeakers they need plenty of hours on them before they loosen and fully open up but they are already sounding pretty special after just 2 or 3 hours of use.
A proper blog post will follow in a few weeks time, but so far they are sounding wonderfully like a typical pair of Avalon loudspeakers – musical, refined with brilliant imaging, few speakers deliver that three-dimensional sound-stage the way an Avalon can, they sound ever so grown up and refined, you’ll struggle to find a more coherent loudspeaker.
They image wide, high and incredibly deep, they aren’t quite as dark sounding as the Idea or Transcendent could sound, they sound effortlessly linear and incredibly well balanced, a real open window into the music.
