Shunyata Research Typhon T30 Power Conditioner
The T30 is best described as a Typhon T2 but a supercharged 30 amp version. The standard T2 has been incredibly popular and in performance terms it has been something of a revelation, it can genuinely transform the performance of whatever you connect to it, but the T30 has the potential to exceed that performance.
Visually at quick glance you will struggle to tell a T30 apart from T2 other than the badge, the connections are almost the same as well. The T30 has 2 UK sockets, plus the dedicated output on the twist/lock amphenol connector – this can either power a 3rd component or it can feed power to an existing Shunyata conditioner to improve its performance with the T30.
What is different about the T30 is the mains inlet – it will not take a standard C19 power input, instead it used the same style amphenol connector, configured as an input obviously. Because this connection is proprietary and no other cable will suffice the T30 is the only Shunyata power conditioner to come with a power cable to the wall included, this cable is the T30P. It is 1.75m long and it is terminated with a UK plug to connect to a standard wall socket.
The T30 contains the same style QR/BB module as contained within the flagship Everest – this module acts like a large reservoir for storing current and delivering it in an instantaneous manner as and when your amplifiers demand it, this QR/BB module can deliver large amounts of current faster than a direct connection to a wall socket can deliver it and as such you will find no compression of dynamics. The QR/BB has a US patent on it (Patent Number: US 10,031,536)
The Typhon T30 also has another US patent on it in the form of a ‘Noise Isolation Chamber’, this patented technology (Patent Number: US 8,658,892) was created to reduce high frequency noise on the power line. Inside this chamber there is a non-reactive ferroelectric substance that actually absorbs high frequency noise. This reduces noise without any of the negatives associated with power filter coils, capacitors and transformers.
From Shunyata…..
It’s All In The Connection
What differentiates the TYPHON T30 from the TYPHON T2 is its 30-amp capability. Shunyata Research collaborated with military connector manufacturer, Amphenol, to create 30-amp, twist lock connectors specifically for use in the TYPHON T30. The quality and current carrying capacity of these connectors is unparalleled. Their performance nearly matches that of a hard-wired electrical connection, reducing the contact impedance that could otherwise affect peak-current transfer.
To extract the performance potential from the T30, a 30-amp AC line and connector are desirable. However, a standard 15-amp or 20-amp electrical line may be used. (Which naturally limits the maximum continuous current potential of the T30 to the power rating of the circuit.)
Dramatic Performance In All Areas
The TYPHON T30 supercharges the performance of high-current amplifiers or other power hungry components. The more demanding the current draw, the greater the difference TYPHON T30 makes in perceived slam, dynamics and the sheer visceral sense of raw power.
Flexible Application Capability
The TYPHON T30 can also be used as a stand-alone, three-component power distributor. Two standard outlets, on the back of the T30, can power two source components or a preamplifier while the proprietary Amphenol outlet provides high-current power to an amplifier. Like the TYPHON T2, the TYPHON T30 can be used to enhance the performance of any Shunyata power distributor. (except the Everest)
Proven In High Demand Professional Applications
The TYPHON T30 power distributor is the ultimate high-current, performance oriented product within Shunyata Research’s legendary range of power distributors. The TYPHON T30 has also been used in some of the world’s finest recording studios, powering massive recording consoles, powered monitors and high-current amplifiers. There are few products that are capable of matching the performance delivery of the TYPHON T30 for use in high-performance audio systems and professional recording studios.
