T+A PA 3100 HV Integrated Amplifier

The PA 3100 is T+A’s flagship integrated amplifier, weighing in at 38kg it certainly isn’t light and the weight should certainly provide a hint as the overall build quality and fit and finish of the HV Series in general! It is has been designed and built without compromise with the casework utilising 10mm thick aluminium, the fit and finish is exemplary as well, when you see any HV in the flesh or turn the volume control the level of quality is immediately apparent.

The PA 3100 HV delivers 300 watts per channel into an 8 ohm load, rising to 500 watts into a 4 ohm load so it has plenty of power and more than enough to cope with any loudspeaker you would think about using with an amplifier of this stature.

Connectivity is extensive to say the least, there are 6 pairs of analogue inputs – the first 4 pairs can be configured for either RCA or XLR, the other 2 inputs are RCA only.

Input 4 can be configured as a pass-through in a home cinema system and Input 5 can have a factory fitted phono stage installed if required (MM or MC £1130). There is also a tape loop for those who may require it. In addition there are pre-outs available (both RCA and XLR)

There are 2 sets of loudspeaker outputs, a headphone socket (on the front). There is also a LAN connection for connecting to a network for control with third party control systems and a T+A control link for use with other HV components.

There is also a proprietary connection for use with the PS 3000 HV Power Supply, the addition of which does elevate performance by providing greater power which gives the 3100 more headroom and the ability to control loudspeakers more effectively, the Power Supply powers the output stages of the 3100 and the internal power supply in the 3100 only powers the inputs stages.

Another cost option (£2100) for the T+A PA 3100 HV Integrated Amplifier is the installation of an analogue signal processor module which offers channel-separate tone control and loudness functions combined with three parametric equalisers to assist with problems with room acoustics. The parametric equalisation can effectively damp narrow-band room resonance effects in the range 20 Hz to 500 Hz. In this way it is possible to obtain optimum sound quality even in problematic spaces. Naturally the unit contains relays which can be used to by-pass the functions completely.
