My initial pair of demonstration Vimberg Amea arrived in October last year, due to a perfect storm of Covid and the floods in Germany they took a little while to arrive and when I got them I literally took them sealed in the box to show a customer, who promptly bought them on the spot after listening to a selection of his favourite go to tracks. This customer has owned many speakers from Focal Utopia, B&W 800 Series, PMC Fact, Audio Physic the list goes on and the customer went on the record to say that the Amea were comfortably the best speaker he has ever had in his room.
So, another pair of Amea went on order which duly arrived with me earlier this week, along with a pair of their dedicated stands, built by Vimberg themselves. It’s my understanding that I’m the very dealer to take delivery of these stands. They look absolutely superb and weigh an a ton, with the Amea installed on top the combined height is 120cm which is almost as tall as a Mino so they are quite imposing, but at the same time they look incredibly elegant and the proportions of them both together look right. I’ve spoken with Jorn in Germany and has said that making a shorter stand isn’t a problem at all for those in smaller rooms.
Anyone who has heard the Amea so far hasn’t heard them at their best yet, they simply sound so right, there is so much clarity and transparency from them it’s quite something, lots of goosebumps and lumps in throats! Close your eyes and you are not listening to a stand mount speaker, the level of weight and extension for a cabinet this size is quite remarkable!
I can’t wait to get these in front of some customers, another world class loudspeaker from our friends in Germany and a superb partner for the Mino and the Tonda!
In the textured matt velvetec finish the Amea are £11,400 in either black or white, the high gloss version are £13600
White speakers come with a black plate surrounding the drive units and black speakers come with a silver plate. A brass or copper plate can be specified for £400, my demo speakers have the brass and they look superb!
